By 2023, The Perennial Project had become a movement that couldn’t be ignored. What started on a single block had now spread across Brownsville, inspiring pride, action, and imagination in every corner of our community.

Cleanup weekend became a celebration—a grassroots festival of flowers, friendship, and full-on community transformation. With dozens of new volunteers, expanded partnerships, and creative installations popping up across town, Brownsville wasn’t just being cleaned—it was being reimagined.

We added new murals, refreshed gateways, interactive art, and even more student-led design installations. Local businesses got involved. Alumni came home to help. Residents took ownership of their blocks like never before. And everywhere you looked, there were banners flying, flower beds bursting, and a buzz in the air that couldn’t be missed.

2023 proved what we’ve always believed:
When we plant beauty, we grow unity. When we build together, we rise together.
And in Brownsville—we’re just getting started.
