2022 SPRING CLEAN
More Hands, More Blooms, More Belief
By 2022, The Perennial Project had become more than a local initiative—it was a movement powered by people who believed in Brownsville’s future. What began with a few shovels and a dream had grown into an unstoppable community force, with more volunteers, more neighborhoods reached, and more proof that small acts of care can reshape a town.
This year, our cleanup efforts stretched even further—activating new lots, expanding floral installations, and drawing volunteers from across generations. Students worked side by side with seniors, families brought kids and cousins, and whole blocks came alive with energy, color, and collaboration.
Public spaces weren’t just cleaned—they were claimed. With each planter installed, each hillside cleared, each mural refreshed, we weren’t just making things beautiful—we were reminding the world that Brownsville is still blooming, and we're not slowing down.
2022 was a season of deeper roots, brighter blooms, and growing belief in what comes next.
